All good things must come to an end. All talentless government run programs must come to end even sooner. The main problem with newly elected administrations is their insatiable appetite to launch new government programs. When, in actuality, what is desperately needed is the administration’s acknowledgement of programmatic failures and a firm date each unproductive program will sunset.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) provides all the ammunition needed to clean house. In plain words, the “GAO investigates how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars”. There are thousands of reports that identify failure and mismanagement in hundreds of government programs. The GAO has laid the groundwork for us. We need to embrace their work.

We millennials would readily scour GAO’s analytical efforts if we knew the fruits of our labor would be acknowledged and acted upon by our senior leadership. This is your opportunity. If you are looking for a moment when the aperture of the millennial mind is open – it is now. The non-partisan and independent work of the GAO is the “downtown avenue” that can open the hearts and minds of the millennial generation to the Republican Party.
